What does “inadmissible” in U.S. Immigration mean?

Even if you found a certain U.S. visa that you think you maybe eligible for, the United States immigration authorities still have the power to deny your visa application if they find you “inadmissible”.

Inadmissibility to enter USA

Inadmissible means that the foreign U.S. visa applicant has a condition or characteristic that the United States government has decided is unacceptable or would threaten the health and safety of people living in the U.S.

The United States government has a list of the conditions and characteristics that make a foreign visa applicant inadmissible. (See Grounds of Inadmissibility (Denied Admission) into the United States )

The Grounds of Inadmissibility to the United States includes miscellaneous physical and mental disorders, commission of crimes, participation in terrorist or subversive activity, the possibility of needing welfare or public assistance and more.
